Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Klipp is a native macOS application developed by Carl Hagerling (Lehune AB, Sweden). Contact: carl@hagerling.se.

2. What data Klipp handles

Klipp works with the screenshots and clipboard items you capture, plus the settings you configure. All of it is stored locally on your Mac:

• Screenshots and clipboard items

  The images and items you capture are held in a local clipboard-history file on your Mac. Klipp never captures passwords or clipboard content marked as concealed by other apps.

• Your API tokens and settings

  The tokens for your Notion or Imgur account, and your preferences, are stored on your device so Klipp can upload where you asked it to.

Klipp does not collect telemetry, analytics, crash reports, advertising identifiers, or any device identifiers.

3. Where your data goes

Klipp uploads images only to the destination you configure — your own Notion workspace, your own Imgur account, or a folder on your Mac. It then copies a hosted URL to your clipboard instead of the image bytes. Nothing is sent anywhere else. Klipp runs no server of its own, and there is no Hagerling-operated backend involved in any of this — your images travel directly from your Mac to the service you chose.

4. How your data is protected

• Encrypted clipboard history

  Your clipboard-history file (uploads.json) is encrypted at rest with AES-GCM. The encryption key is stored in the macOS Keychain, and the file is excluded from backups.

• Tokens kept in the Keychain

  Your Notion and Imgur API tokens live in the macOS Keychain — device-only and non-syncing, so they never leave your Mac.

• Nothing captured in the background

  Klipp never captures passwords or clipboard content marked concealed, and it makes no upload you didn't ask for.

5. Third-party services

The only third parties Klipp contacts are the upload destinations you connect it to — Notion or Imgur. When you upload, your data is handled under that provider's own terms and privacy policy. Klipp uses no analytics SDK, advertising network, or error-reporting service.

6. Permissions Klipp requests

Klipp asks only for what it needs to do its job:

• Screenshot folder read access

  So Klipp can detect and read the new screenshots you take.

• Outgoing network connections

  So Klipp can upload images to your own Notion workspace or Imgur account.

• Keychain access

  So your API tokens and the clipboard-history encryption key can be stored securely on your device.

7. Children's privacy

Klipp does not knowingly collect any data from children or any users — see "What data Klipp handles" above.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy is dated July 4, 2026. If it changes, the new effective date will be shown at the top of this page.
